Environmental Control for Malt Production

Malting plant

The environmental control for malt production includes measurement of grain and water into the steeping vessels, the aeration and draining during steeping, temperature and moisture control during germination, heating and drying during kilning. All processes are carried out following a prescribed time/temperature profile spanning several days with the minimum of operator intervention.

The control system uses a distributed PLC to control the plant items spread throughout the site including: conveyors, elevators, compressors, boilers, chillers, heat exchangers and fans. The operator interface is an easy to use computer system that allows the operators to monitor the system from a number of locations including off site.
